Andrew Rehs | Like all Earthlings, I embody various facets, all converging in my artwork. While working as a therapist, I also immerse myself in roles as an artist, woodworker, explorer, and community creator.
In my artistic endeavors, I specialize in working with reclaimed wood. The allure lies in its rich history, allowing me to repurpose materials, providing customers with unique pieces carrying sentimental value. I’ve witnessed the therapeutic power of art, particularly when crafted from reclaimed elements. My reutilization of wood takes diverse forms, ranging from portraits to abstract creations, spanning from small desktop pieces to expansive mural walls.
I consistently merge my passions by translating stories from my experiences as a therapist into my art. It serves as a means for me to process my clients’ journeys while respecting their confidentiality.
Further fueling my artistry is an insatiable curiosity for exploration, evident in my works that delve into the unknown, specifically focusing on UFOs.
Recognizing that therapy alone isn’t always sufficient for healing, I place a premium on community. To foster connection, I actively create shared spaces and experiences, a commitment reflected in my co-founding and curation of art for numerous galleries across Chicago.
