In the sway
Hey tree, is there something you want to say?
Something we can learn from you by the way your branches sway.
Like how thoughts and feelings can linger unless acknowledged they won’t go away.
How ego is always at play.
How it creeps in when there’s reason to be afraid.
Having to give in and surrender.
To have trust in the uncertain that everything will be okay.
Hey tree, is there something you want to say?
Unfinished conversations left for a new day.
Drop everything you thought and have to develop a new way.
There’s weight for everyone to hold and plate.

Tanae B. is a spoken word artist, singer, community organizer, author of Joy & Contradictions, and founder of Tanae Speaks LLC. With a heart for society and arts, she aims to use her voice to uplift and empower our inner love to shine outwards to each other.
Amyia Ross | Through her work, Amyia depicts specific emotional events and experiences that cannot be fully described with words, with the intention of invoking strong emotional connections through her work. Aside from this, Amyia writes stories and create characters to help her audience navigate these emotions with a ‘guide’. She pulls a lot of her inspiration from internet culture and the phenomenon of emotional bonding without physical presence. While a lot of her work focuses on channeling more complex sensations, there is a portion of Amyia’s work that is simply dedicated to the happiness and recovery of the heart, a sensation that truly cannot be grasped through language alone. Amyia tackles these complicated ideas with challenging or sometimes simple compositions, iconography, and color theory.
